Unifying and focusing the outdoor industry
The climate action corps is the moniker given to the companies who are coalescing to focus their joint voices and efforts to address climate change issues. Formed by the Outdoor Industry Association it is committed to creating a climate positive situation by 2050 (or sooner).
With over one hundred companies already joined, it is clear that the appetite for change in relation to climate issues is more than just lip service to consumers. Be it carbon removal, choosing sustainable materials, shortening supply chains or any number of other of the thousands of elements that together contribute to global warming, pollution, and the depletion of the world’s natural resources.
With 94% of Gen Z consumers polled by Cone Communications saying that companies should urgently address pressing social and environmental issues. The Climate Action Corps message is clear – Climate action isn’t a seasonal or whimsical project for companies to dip and out of, but a permanent and lasting commitment to change the world through their corporate action.
With joined up local acts from a growing cadre of Climate Action Corps companies, the net effect is soon observed by competitors and experienced by consumers. Clearly, consumers want their favorite brands to be active over global climate issues and by companies joining the Climate Action Corps movement they are able to clearly flag their intent. There will be a peril for brands choosing to ignore the call to action, as consumers have never been more educated as to the ecological tail attached to the goods they buy.
