Helping you earn your long-run stripes
Craft Sportswear have been quietly and diligently working on their athletic footwear program since launching it in 2017. The CTM Ultra Carbon is by far their best, and most technically advanced shoe to date, using all their knowledge to make a shoe that will help you cover ultra-marathon distance miles without sacrificing the big smiles. Key to this is the development of the carbon power plate embedded in the lightweight ‘Fast Forward’ foam midsole, which itself features an ultra-high rebound Pebax foam insert to give back what you put in. The midsole is 40mm in the heel and 30mm in the forefoot for a standard 10mm drop. The tuned carbon plate increases the spring or ‘energy return’ you get from every step, making each stride feel lighter and faster. The CTM’s carbon plate has a special split shape help control torsional forces through the foot-strike and further reduce stress and unwanted movement. For ultra-distance running weight, or the lack of it, in shoes is everything. A one piece ‘no-sew’ dynamic mesh upper is well vented with only a small overlay on the big toe. The three-piece rubber outsole is pretty chunky, for what is a road shoe, and means the CTM will take a shine to dry trail runs if you want to mix up the surfaces. The CTM is 275g (9.9oz), so not the lightest in class, but not a porker either. Oh yeah. You might have noticed it uses a zebra stripe ww1 battleship (google it kids) ‘dazzle’ pattern. You’ll either love or hate that, we love it.
