SRAM have added (finally) MTB wheels to their ZIPP wheel line up. In doing so, they’re also breaking out some cool new tech, in the form of their 3Zero MOTO Enduro carbon wheels. The 3Zero MOTO Enduro rims feature an interesting new feature, in as previously un-explored area of the bike. Riders wanted wheels that track better in hard cornering situations, SRAM looked to off-road motorcycling for inspiration, switching to a single wall rim design which allows the union between spoke, spoke bed and rim to be, to a degree, ‘locally’ mobile. SRAM call it ‘Ankle compliance’ – like if you try to make sharp turns when running, your ankle is able to twist to keep your foot planted. Tested in the heat of EWS (Enduro World Series) competition by the Lapierre ZIPP Collective team, the system delivers added agility and control. It’s not like fireworks exploding in the sky levels of obvious, but it is palpable. Available in 27.5in and 29in size the Enduro/Trail orientated rims can be bought separately, or as full wheel packages. Not cheap, hey, new tech never is, but if you’re chasing the clock (and the win) it’s all worth it.
