The world just got a little bit smaller!
The adventure motorcycle market has been going crazy recently with more emphasis from brands on this versatile ‘go-anywhere’ category of bikes, mixing tarmac and trail with equal aplomb. Taking cues from their previous Super Duke model, the new KTM 1290 V-twin Super Adventure R redefines the category and throws the gauntlet firmly to Ducati with their new Multi Strada V4. The 1290 has been shortened by 15mm in the front end, and lengthened in the swingarm. This has served to maintain stable off-road and long-distance cruise handling, while making the on-tarmac steering feel lighter and more playful. A smoother motor, thanks to mapping and injection improvements, more than mechanical changes, make the KTM 1290 Super Adventure easy and intuitive to ride. With 160hp and 138Nm of torque on tap there’s plenty at the wrist for fun and function. Add in loads of new electronic features, accessed through a large, colour TFT screen on the 1290’s dash, like hill-start and traction control and this is one mile munching, trail slaying adventure begging bike. For the shorties out there, the 1290 has a massive range of saddle adjustment and fit options, so even when fully loaded and deep in some muddy rut on the Karakorum Highway, you’ll be in full control.
