A bike racing team for now, and the future
Cycling teams have traditionally been male or female, on road, or off-road in scope. Team Spectra Wiggle presented by Vitus, launched this week have set out to redefine the ‘bike racing team’ landscape. In short, they’re a multi-disciplinary, cross-gender ‘cycling supergroup’, to quote Team Spectra Wiggle’s manager and brainchild (and red hot CX racer) Bruce Dalton. With a six-men, five women line up of riders, who each race on road, gravel, MTB and Zwift e-road, they’re likely to be found on any start line of any cycling event in the UK, EU and US. It’s a bit like the extremely popular EF Education Nippo Gone Racing program, only with a strong female component to level up on gender equality.
With support from global online cycling resource Wiggle and French bike brand Vitus, the Team Spectra riders are in the perfect position to ride fast, win races, have fun. In doing so they will undoubtedly make their own news. Which of course is the key these days – to make attractive watchable, relatable content. With YouTube and a full raft of social media channels dedicated to beaming Team Spectra Wiggle’s adventures and racing endeavours direct to your laptop or phone, you’ll be seeing a lot more of them as 2021 continues to unfold. We can’t wait.
