Eco-responsibility starts at home for ZAG
What do Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Poland all have in common? Answer; They’re the places where Zag Skis from Chamonix is able to source the high tech, EU derived materials required to build their skis. Part of a program they call Zagreen, Zag Ski’s is building a reality out of their desire to ‘Explore more and Destroy less’ when it comes to the environment. ZAG use 100 per cent FSC approved wood for all of their ski models, and have used since 2016 a high degree of bio-resin in the wood for their skis, at their Tunisian production facility. The top-sheet of the skis is bio-based using a 50 percent bio-based polyamide derived from Castor oil (harvested from a sustainably farmed tropical shrub). Not content with that, they only used recycled metal in the production of their ski edges. ZAG still uses carbon fibres, that are man-made ‘We still have work to do, to find a suitable alternative to carbon fibres, and it looks like a natural flax fibre will likely be the answer’ say ZAG ‘we’re proud of our 1% For the Planet contribution and associate participation with Protect our Winters and Mountain Wilderness programs.
